Chickenhare is a rare animal that combines the best traits of a chicken and a hare. He and his best friend Able the Bearded Turtle are sold to the crazy taxidermist Klaus, who imprisons the heroes with Banjo the Monkey and Meg, a horned creature. They manage to escape into the mountains, but Klaus is close on their tails. To save all of their lives, the animals must work together, trust on their brains, and a dead goat to beat Klaus.
Chickenhare is a fun story about a group of strange animals and how they join together to outwit a taxidermist. Just the very mention of a taxidermist is taboo for a children’s comics (death and killing), but the comic is similar to a Bugs Bunny cartoon with Elmer Fudd. The humor doesn’t pander to the intended audience, instead it achieves the distinct kid-friendly tone and drives the entire comic. Chickenhare, Abe, Banjo, and Meg aren’t cute nor are they grotesque, making them incredibly different from a lot of other kid comic book characters. Their distinct differences make them appealing and add to story’s entertainment factor. Chickenhare combines odd characters and a great adventure which equals more than a great read!
